Whether you’re a generally anxiety-ridden person or typically pretty relaxed, stress can affect anyone for a number of reasons.

Maybe you have a project at work that is on a tight deadline, or maybe there is a big change going on in your life at the moment. Whatever it may be that’s causing the stress, stress can strike at any moment. But, stress can also be hard to identify.

Some markers of stress include: irritability, general feeling of anxiety, feeling overwhelmed, and feeling like your thoughts are racing. But, this isn’t an extensive list of all the factors that can identify stress. And, it’s important to note that if it seems pretty bad then you can always seek professional help to manage your stress.

But, if you just need a little pick-me-up then we have a couple of tips to help you out:

🎨 Engage in a hobby

A lot of time stress is caused by external factors that may or may not be out of your control. In this case, a great way to manage feelings of stress is to take some time for yourself. Think about any hobby you love or one you want to try out. It could be reading, painting, or crocheting (which seems to be pretty popular among all ages btw).

Whatever it may be, spending some time on yourself can help take your mind off of whatever it is that is causing you stress. Focusing on something else can help calm your mind and reroute you towards something you actually like to do (in case the thing stressing you out is something you don’t necessarily want to do).

😌 Mask, mask, and mask

A super simple way to relieve stress is to treat yourself to a self-care moment. This can include taking a warm bath to relax the muscles and popping on a face mask to cool and calm the skin.

Plus, face masking is a super easy and affordable way to take a calming moment for yourself. Just take your favorite face mask (if you don’t have one, we recommend our cooling Blemish Mask) and apply it onto the skin for a good 10 to 20 minutes.

As a bonus, you can also multi-task while face masking, so why not double up on stress-relieving activities and engage in your favorite hobby at the same time. Not to mention your skin will look and feel refreshed afterwards.

🚶Go for a walk

While exercise is generally recommended to help relieve stress, sometimes making yourself do a full on exercise can be stressful itself. So, we propose going for a brisk walk instead.

For one, if you are cooped up in your home just thinking about the things that are stressing you out, that’s probably not going to help your situation. Instead, a nice change of scenery can help get your mind out of a bad funk.

🎵 Listen to music or watch a show

Comfort shows are called comfort shows for a reason. Even if you just put it on for background noise, watching a tv show that brings you comfort can also help relieve stress. Just the act of watching a show you like can help distract you from the things that are currently bothering you.

Same goes for music. You can listen to music that you find to be relaxing and soothing to help destress. You might have to find what genre best helps relax you, but the good news is that it’s not limited to a single genre so you don’t necessarily have to listen to classical music to get the stress-relieving benefits of music.

🧴 Follow a routine

If your source of stress comes from something unpredictable or out of your control, establishing and following a routine can help bring structure to your life that it may be lacking. And, a routine is predictable since you’re the one setting it so there’s nothing to be potentially anxious over.

Whatever your routine may be like a skincare routine or an exercise routine, the element of control in a routine helps relieve an overwhelmed or anxious mind.

Anytime you are feeling particularly stressed out and anxious try to practice any of the above activities to help destress and calm the mind.
