Here at Hanhoo HQ, product development can sometimes become an all hands on deck situation. While we have a product development team (including this blog’s writer, hi 👋), our social and creative teams also weigh in when it comes to testing out potential launches.

We want to make sure that the products we create are actually products that we would use in our own routines. So, when testing out samples the development team will pass it around to get the whole Hanhoo team’s thoughts on important factors like scent, texture, finish on the skin, and the general feel of the product on the skin.

How we develop Hanhoo products

While I won’t go too deep into the process, here is a bit of a rundown:

First, we take stock of what we have already launched and analyze what it is that we may be missing and that would make sense for our audience. We also go through this process with our team in Korea so we get multiple perspectives.

For example, one of our latest launches, the Barrier Support Moisturizer, was thought up because we felt like an acne routine needs a nourishing moisturizer. Lots of Hanhoo users deal with acne and since there can be quite a bit of harsh products out on the market to treat acne, we wanted to create a moisturizer that would help restore the skin after using such strong treatments. And thus was born the Barrier Support Moisturizer.

From there we worked with our team based in Korea to come up with a formula that would work for all skin types, including acne-prone skin and tested out samples until we settled on one we all liked.

Creative & Social Team:

Favorite: Pore Cleanser

“I absolutely love the Pore Cleanser because it's so fun to use! The foamy, bubbly texture instantly makes washing my face feel like a treat. I also love that it can double as a mask, turning my routine into a self-care moment. A total “Pore-fection”! :)” ~ Olive

“I have pretty sensitive skin, a damaged skin barrier and reoccurring hormonal acne, but since using  pore cleanser on a daily basis, my skin isn’t having terrible flare ups. (I still get them on occasion but it is due to hormones).

Usually when I try other brands, my skin barrier is basically destroyed, but the pore cleanser is gentle but efficient on my skin.

My boyfriend does as well and he genuinely had really enlarged pores (genetics and lack of skin care routine), but since using pore cleanser his pores have gotten noticeably smaller (He just needs to use it more consistently).”  ~ Melanie

Favorite: T-Zone Pore Patch

“The T-Zone Pore Patch is my fave because it helps suck up any oil and gunk and helps with makeup prep” ~ Camila

Favorite: Barrier Support Moisturizer

“My favorite is the Barrier Support Moisturizer. It feels refreshing after a good cleanse, gives your face a nice glow without feeling sticky, actually feels moisturizing instead of dry, and is lightweight on my face. Come to think of it, I need to restock!” ~ Taylor

Favorite: Barrier Support Moisturizer & Brightening Microdart Patch

“I love how the formulation is super lightweight yet hydrating. I can layer it (Barrier Support Moisturizer) with other products & it doesn't feel heavy, which makes it perfect for underneath my makeup!”

“I usually get a lot of blind pimples and the Brightening Patch has been the only one that soothes it while also absorbing gunk and prevents it from turning into a dark spot.” ~ Tracy

Favorite: Pore Cleanser

“Pore cleanser - I truly feel like it removes dirt/makeup and leaves my face bright and refreshed. I’ve gone through 3 bottles since working here lol.” ~ Brianna

Favorite: Post-Blemish Corrector

And finally, my favorite Hanhoo product is the Post-Blemish Corrector. As someone who still pops a pimple or two (I know it’s bad), I love the Post-Blemish Corrector for those spots that stay behind. Here’s how I typically use the corrector after popping a pimple:

  1. Cleanse your face with a mild cleanser.
  2. If the spot is bleeding, dry off the spot as much as you can.
  3. Apply a blemish patch to keep irritants out while the spot heals.
  4. Dispense a small (like really small) amount of the Post-Blemish Corrector to the spot up to twice a day.

After a pimple has healed (if it was previously popped), I apply a small amount of the Post-Blemish Corrector in both my morning and night routine. I’ve noticed before that if I do nothing then the spot stays a lot longer than if I apply a post-blemish product like the Post-Blemish Corrector.
