When you first think of Calamine, you might think of bug bite treatment. And while Calamine does help ease the itch and redness of a bug bite, these same properties can be pretty useful for anyone with acne-prone skin.

Calamine is known to help:

-        Reduce itchiness and discomfort

-        Soothe the skin

-        Help reduce up oozing from skin irritations

A lot of these benefits that are normally meant for things like rashes from poison ivy or irritation from bug bites are pretty similar to some of the properties of acne. Like sometimes pimples can get itchy. And scratching at your pimple isn’t recommended since picking and/or popping a pimple can lead to scarring and inflammation.

Some types of pimples can also be a bit painful, especially the types of pimples that pop up just underneath the skin. Not to mention, various types of pimples are filled with gunk made up of pus, oil, and bacteria.

So, the soothing, anti-itch, and drying properties of Calamine can help to relieve acne-prone skin and minimize the extra juicy looking pimples.

Which Hanhoo products contain Calamine?

Cue our Dermafix Collection. One of this collection’s star ingredients is Calamine, paired up with other skin-friendly, blemish-fighting ingredients. Given Calamine’s soothing and pimple-reducing properties we thought this ingredient would be perfect for our blemish line.

While you don’t want to put straight Calamine lotion on your skin, our toner and moisturizer are formulated with additional ingredients that help keep the skin calm and hydrated.

Dermafix Blemish Toner

The Dermafix Blemish Toner is best fit for oily or combo skin types that deal with excess shine and breakouts. Just shake the bottle to activate and apply straight to the skin, especially on areas with excess oil.

Apart from Calamine, our toner is formulated with Witch Hazel, Aloe Vera, Green Tea, and Centella Asiatica. The combination of these ingredients help keep oily skin in check without stripping the skin of any of its natural oils. The Green Tea and Centella Asiatica help cool and calm the skin while adding some hydration.

Plus, the Dermafix Blemish Toner helps lift leftover traces of makeup and removes dirt and grime from the skin to help keep pores clear of any potentially clogging elements.

Dermafix Blemish Moisturizer

The Dermafix Blemish Moisturizer is also made with Calamine to help bring much needed relief to acne-prone skin and hydrates without leaving behind a greasy feel to the skin.

The Calamine in our moisturizer helps keep the skin soothed and reduces excess oil while the added Green Tea and Aloe Vera hydrate the skin. Even if you have oily or combination skin you don’t want to skip out on moisturizer. Keeping the skin hydrated helps support the skin barrier so it’s not so vulnerable to potential acne triggers.

Our moisturizer comes in a lightweight gel texture so it doesn’t leave behind a heavy feeling on the skin. If you have oily skin the last thing you want to do is add heavy, potentially pore-clogging products to the skin.

How’s this different from Calamine lotion?

If you’ve ever used Calamine lotion on a rash or bug bite then you’ll know the formulation dries up super fast on the skin and leaves behind a pink hue. Using Calamine lotion on the skin, even as a spot treatment, might just end up drying out the skin too much and you also wouldn’t want to walk around with a pink tint to your skin.

Our Dermafix collection is specifically formulated for use on the face, so apart from Calamine, the toner and moisturizer have skin nourishing and hydrating ingredients so the formula doesn’t dry out the skin. And as a bonus, there is no pink hue left behind after using the toner and moisturizer.
